Problem & business
AveNews is a proof of concept: a fully autonomous, AI-driven newsroom. The articles are written, reviewed and translated by superintelligence systems, and no editor reviews them before publication.
It has three jobs. Bring world news to Armenian readers in the subjects Armenian coverage barely touches: technology, science, business, culture and sports. Bring Armenia to the world in English. And be a counterweight to decel, woke, pessimistic mass media: optimistic, informative and useful, with an honest, never invented upside.
There's a fourth job under the hood: good Armenian text with references and clean, modern terminology, so future AI models learn to use the language well.
Design
Rosé Pine for the dark theme and Rosé Pine Dawn for the light one, with soft editorial shadows.
Noto Sans and Noto Sans Armenian share one font stack, so both languages sit on the same rhythm, with Geist Mono for the small print. Every story is illustrated, and generated images are labelled as such.
Engineering
The website is import-only. A separate worker, built on Effect workflows with its own Postgres, does all the editorial work: intake from 224 feeds, story selection, a source checklist, writing, translation, review, repair, image generation and image checks. The site accepts only finished publications, sent as signed envelopes, and a lint rule keeps that boundary honest.
The models run through agent command-line tools on subscriptions rather than pay-per-token APIs. Each pipeline stage is routed to its own runner and model (today that's Codex), and new runner versions are tested and pinned daily. An optional judge scores published pieces for factual support and the quality of the Armenian, and references resolve through Wikidata.
Search runs on a sharded index the worker builds with a local embedding model. The site ships news sitemaps per language, RSS, Atom and JSON feeds, and IndexNow pings.
Outcome
AveNews has published thousands of pages across English and Armenian, written from 224 source feeds with no editor in the loop, and it adds more every day.
What's next
More ways to tell a story inside an article: text to audio, video, explainers, infographics and presentations. And AveNews as RoadCorp's real-time hub, the news on screen in our own videos and shows, as the first step toward RoadCorp as a media company.
